Who we are
BRU's Community team is a group of Ultimate enthusiasts who want to take the game of Ultimate to the competitive level. Each year, BRU competes in multiple tournaments throughout Virginia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and sometimes beyond. We compete in Men's, Open, and Mixed unsanctioned tournaments. Frequently Asked Questions
What does it take to become a member of this team?
Members of the BRU Community team are required to purchase a BRU Jersey. This will make you a lifetime member of the team and will allow you to play in any tournament with us. We would love to meet you first and let you see what we are about, so reach out to us and we can get you out on the field with us.
How competitive are these tournaments?
This level of play is considerably higher than pick-up. We try our best to place ourselves in tournaments that match our skill levels and play against other community teams. However, sometimes we are playing against collegiate club teams.
How much does it cost to play?
Each tournament has varying costs. Those that require travel have hotel and ride-sharing costs, and each tournament has a player fee ranging between $10 and $25 usually.
Jersey costs vary between styles of short and long sleeve, please contact us for pricing, but they are between $25 and $35.
What about a Women's team?
We are working extremely hard to grow the sport in the area. We would love to add a dedicated women's team to our group. If you are interested or have more questions, please reach out to us. We do target tournaments that are Mixed in order to give our female body players an equal opportunity to play with us.
